Support and encouragement on your amazing and unique journey through life.
Your task is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find all the
barriers within yourself that you have built against it.
Mindful art journaling—the visual experience of meditation and insight—has been a tremendously supportive practice for me for over a year now. It has helped me recognize more tangibly what I may be resisting, what I need to allow, and what I need to let go of. It has also helped me to connect to subtler but very important inner wisdom, opening insight that sometimes encourages and other times challenges me.
Those of you who have taken mindful creativity classes from me know that I use the term “art journal” loosely. This practice is not about making art in the sense of something you hang on the wall or sell in a marketplace. It often completely disregards traditional rules for composition, color selection, etc. Instead, the practice focuses on what is arising, freeing intuitive responses within the context of awareness.
Would you like to join me?
As much as I enjoy the process of the mindful art journal, I also enjoy community. So it occurred to me, would you be interested in joining me each week to do this practice together through Zoom? I recognize scheduling to suit everyone would be a challenge, but I figured it’s worth asking to see if anyone is interested. I’m thinking about Friday afternoons at 1:00 PM Central. We could plan to spend an hour or two together—whatever fits our individual schedule. I would bring an intention or wisdom question for the spread and whoever shows up has the choice of opening to that intention or working on their own. It’s really more about working on our mindful art journals together, sharing the experience, showing each other what we’re doing, inspiring and supporting one another. I’m already paying for the Zoom account, so there would be no cost.

Drawing on Compassion
March 5, 2022 (Saturday)
Research demonstrates that mindfulness can enhance creativity through promoting psychological flexibility, enhancing spontaneity, and making space for insight. During this one-hour online class, artist Pam Hausner will guide you in learning to set aside self-judgment, foster self-trust, and express yourself wholeheartedly through the practice of mindful drawing. Multiple drawing practices will be offered to guide the participant into greater awareness and compassion. The act of drawing naturally incorporates many types of learning for the mindfulness practitioner. Many people feel they can’t draw well and damaging self-talk can surface. For some people, drawing may even hold painful memories (if they’ve been criticized, etc.). We can also get attached to a specific outcome—an end product—thinking that each drawing should be better than the last. Our practices for this class will include making marks with no planned outcome, simply enjoying the movement of it, and opening to compassion. Click here to register.
