This practice can be done using basic household supplies. However if you enjoy using art materials, this is a great time to get them out and let yourself play a bit. 

  • Paper or journal
    • If you plan to use watercolors, you’ll want to have watercolor paper or an art journal. If you are not working in an art journal, you will want some masking tape to fasten the edges of your paper to a board or baking sheet.
    • If you plan to use crayons, colored pencils, or markers, you can use regular copy paper or a sketchpad.
  • A round object like a saucer, small plate, or inverted bowl that you can trace around
  • Pencil
  • Watercolors, colored pencils, crayons, markers, inks, etc. (whatever you’d like to use or have on hand)
  • Writing paper
  • Waterproof pen
  • Black marker (or black pencil or crayon)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Sometimes even our most generous and earnest efforts can be obscured by the very systems created to help us. To better identify barriers to authentic living, this mindfulness practice invites us to take cerebral concepts and put them in front of us visually. This creative process helps to liberate us from subtle, unseen attachments so we can focus on what matters.
